The post-processor converts your toolpaths in the software to the code that works for that specific machine. You need to know all of this so you choose the right post-processor. These vary widely from one machine to the next and also some of them may not be there depending on the features your machine may or may not have. There are also M-Codes that control various machine functions. These paths are dependent upon your tooling, your stock material, your setup, and how long you want your tooling to last. The G-code is mostly just machine movements and varies depending on the machine and controller as well as possibly the version of software the controller is running. You need CAM software and way more information and training.
